Neuromuscular Massage Therapy

Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is a significant methodology for assessing, treating and preventing soft tissue injuries and chronic pain. The use of finger, hand or forearm pressure along with novel movement generated by the therapists body combine to elicit a relaxation response from the clients nervous system. Tense muscles oxygenate and relax. Posture or a relative ease in the pattern of tension tends to normalize. We treat issues such as TMJ dysfunction, carpal tunnel, sciatica, low back pain, neck pain, hip pain, bursitis, whiplash, and frozen shoulder. In the course of treatment we may utilize such body therapies as sports massage, deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Shiatsu, post isometric relaxation, positional release and or dermoneuromodulation.

We recommend a first session of 110 minutes which is dedicated to considering client objectives, reviewing client intake forms, and also assessing client posture, joint ranges of motion and recognizing any perpetuating factors. If necessary, special orthopedic tests will be carried out to support or negate any findings and a strategy for future sessions suggested. If there is any time remaining bodywork can be initiated.

NMT is generally undertaken with the client fully clothed. Clothing should be comfortable and allow for ease of movement with necessary access to the body parts to be worked. Such clothing will be similar to workout clothing including a sports bra for women. Very little to no oil or lotion is used.

We are open by appointment, located in Los Gatos, California and serve the entire San Francisco Bay Area.
